wow. so i decided to find out about this wave sailing malarkey. drove up to Blyth which is close to my new base - nobody else out except a few kitesurfers further up the beach. Still, can't be bothered to move the car, and after all if you're going to try waves, why not start with the biggest breakers on the beach you can find?

seat harness on, and absolutely no idea what to do or how to get out - wander in, jump on, over the first bit of white water... seems pretty easy, but then the second one catches and i go over the front and get munched... again and again and again. finally get going all over the place but crack the gybe on the outside and ride a couple of waves on the way in - amazing!! absolutely exhilarating!!! Second time out a make thru the waves just fine, no falls or submissions. very little style, but I'm hooked and totally stoked.

coming back in, it appears I've amused half the beach - and get some respect off a friendly geordie fisherman. sweet.
